A Heart Full of Stories
16+ years
Immerse yourself in the ancient art of oral storytelling! explore elements of story, point of view (what would the story of snow White be like if told by Grumpy the dwarf?) and authentic physical gesture. Play with character voices and experience community-building through storytelling. Both creating personal myth and bringing a legend to life can be accomplished with specific techniques. this course will also enhance your performance skills and stage fright management techniques. also suitable for reading writers and performance poets.
Sacred Sound
16+ years
Become a musical instrument through simple stretches and tones. learn the art of chakra toning: making sound that corresponds with the body’s energy centres. Increase your relaxation, vocal range and resonance. When you pluck a string on an instrument, the sound resonates through its body freely. When we gently work through the places where we hold tension, our bodies are again free to make sound---simply and purely. you’ll leave class feeling refreshed and in tune! Bring your questions about vocal anatomy & function, e.g. What’s my diaphragm and how does it work? How do I smooth this strange crack in the middle of my voice? What do I do with stage fright?” this workshop is also useful for speakers and reading writers. Please wear stretchy and relaxing clothes.
